Right now my hair is the longest it has ever been in my adult life, possibly the longest it has ever been in all my life.
Considering I haven’t had it cut in 6 months there’s barely a split end in sight despite my balayage highlights. Now I’m not saying that a haircut isn’t overdue, but I am saying that I think I’ve learnt a few tricks that have really helped me take care of my hair so I thought I would share them with you in today’s post.
1. Wet Brush – £11.99
My Wet Brush is my go to hair brush whether my hair is wet or dry, and to be honest, I can’t imagine ever finding a more effective hair brush. Having thick, long, wavy hair, my hair can get quite knotty (especially when wet) but the Wet Brush bristles detangle my hair gently, without tugging, breaking or causing me any pain. I can’t recommend it highly enough!
Before I wash my hair I try and remember to brush out any knots with my Wet Brush and this seems to make a big difference to detangling my hair post washing.
2. Soap & Glory Hair Turban – £8.00
Gone are the days that I towel dry my hair as I find this just makes my hair more knotty. Instead, I like to squeeze out any excess water and wrap my hair up in a Soap & Glory Hair Turban. It’s so much lighter and kinder to my scalp than a heavy wet towel on my head and the handy button closure at the end of the twist stops it from falling off my head part way through getting ready which used to be such a bugbear of mine. It also dries my hair more quickly which is an added bonus, I prefer to air dry my hair so I don’t leave it up in the turban for long, but every little helps!
3. Hair Oils and Serums
Post wash, once I’m ready to take my hair down from the Soap & Glory Hair Turban, I like to use a fine toothed comb to find my parting. Before I start to brush through my hair with the Wet Brush, I run 2-3 pumps of hair oil or serum through the ends of my hair as I find this step helps my hair appear silky and shiny but also helps make my hair more manageable when brushing. I swear by hair oils and serums and find them far better than any detangling product I’ve ever tried.
My current favourite is the Garnier Ultimate Blends Strength Restorer Serum (£4.99) which smells absolutely divine. The Garnier Ultimate Blends Strength Restorer Serum is enriched with Propolis extract which leaves my hair feeling stronger and helps to protect hair against breakage from brushing. But I also enjoy using the Superdrug Hair Therapy Oil with Coconut and Superdrug Hair Therapy Oil with Macademia (both £3.99) and the Aussie 3 Miracle Oil Reconstructor (£9.99).
So there we have it, my three favourite hair care hacks that I couldn’t live without. Do you have any hair care favourites?
