I have been missing Sooty so much and on Thursday we got a call to say that his ashes were ready to be collected. Coming home from work to a little box of Sooty’s ashes was heartbreaking, where has my little piggy gone? I just want to give him a big cuddle and a chunk of cucumber! Anyway I need to try and keep calm otherwise I’ll be in floods of tears again.
I haven’t been the only one that has been missing Sooty, Dusty, Sooty’s cage mate has been acting quite subdued. Sooty has been Dusty’s cage mate for almost his entire life so it’s not really surprising.
Although Dusty does seem to get on with our other piggies for short bouts of time, none of our cages are really big enough to house 3 piggies so we thought it was fairest to find a new cage mate for Dusty. Besides, I would give every guinea pig in the world a home if I could so I don’t need to think twice about it.
Please meet Toffee, a very adorable, gingery ball of fluff that can’t be more than 12 weeks old. He is still very much a baby piggy and it feels like Dusty has taken him in as his baby brother. I’ve caught Dusty cleaning Toffee’s hair and snuggling up to him as if to keep him warm which is so sweet to watch. Toffee is still settling in, he runs and hides if there is a noise or something scares him.
He also needs more time to feel comfortable around us, at the moment he sits very still while being handled but he doesn’t seem relaxed. We are trying to get him used to us by hand feeding him and cuddling him little and often, hopefully it won’t take too long.
Welcome to the family teeny Toffee, we’ll take good care of you!

Aww, I’m sorry to hear about Sooty. I hope Dusty and his new cagemate Toffee will be very happy!
If piggies could read blogs, our boys Monty, Bailey, Dusty and Patch would all say hi to Toffee!

Awww Toffee is gorgeous, I’m so pleased he’s getting along with Dusty too, it must be so hard for them too losing their sole mate, we lost one of our bunnies Tallulah in November, they are sisters and we have be so worried about Tinkerbell as she will be 9 next week and 9 years together is such a long time, she is doing ok though, we didn’t think she’d cope with a new addition so well being such an old girl, but she’s doing well so far, she’s a house bunny so has lots of interaction with us and we’ve moved her cage into the lounge for the time being, welcome to Toffee, he’s so beautiful and I’m sure my lovely Tallulah will be looking after Sooty

9?? Wow, that’s an amazing bunny life Tinkerbell has had. I’m sure being inside with you and your family and the constant interaction really helps to stop her from feeling lonely and missing Tallulah. So sorry to hear you lost Tallulah fairly recently. Thank you so much for your kind words
