I’ve been meaning to try some products from Primark Beauty for some time. I love a bargain and as most of Primark’s Beauty range seems to retail for less than £3.00 I thought it was definitely worth picking a few bits up and giving them a spin.
Angelica Nail Polish in Forget Me Not | £2.50
Whilst browsing I came across a stand of Angelica nail polishes. I’ve never heard of this brand before but the range of pretty colours sucked me in, and before I knew it, Forget Me Not was in my basket. Forget Me Not (such a cute name!) is a stunning blue toned grey which I feel will be perfect for the transition from Winter to Spring.
Angelica Nail Polish in Party Pants | £2.00
I can never resist a pretty glitter polish. Angelica Party Pants has a clear base with a mix of metallic black, blue, red, yellow and white hexagonal glitter particles with yellow micro glitter. I think this will work well over both a light and dark base – I might even try it over Forget Me Not.
2 Glass Nail Files | £1.00
I have a really lovely Champneys Glass Nail File but it’s useful to have a couple of spares for keeping in my handbag or taking away on holiday and as these are a tenth of the price I won’t be worrying about losing them. However, I have found that after 2 or 3 uses these nail files start to lose their ability to file.. so I won’t be repurchasing. It seems these were too good to be true.
Lipgloss Crayon in Nude | £1.50
This lipgloss crayon doesn’t have a shade name or number but I would describe it as peachy nude. It’s a mechanical crayon which is really handy as there’s no sharpening involved. This lipgloss crayon actually feels more like a balm than the crayons I’ve tried in the past but it has a nice glossy finish and it leaves a natural even colour on the lips. This crayon isn’t very long lasting but it’s easy to reapply so I don’t see this as a major flaw.
Liquid Lipstick in Pink | £2.00
This liquid lipstick is a lovely mid-toned pink. It’s highly pigmented and when first applied it feels thick and sticky – more like a traditional lipgloss but after a few minutes it seems to settle to a more creamy texture which feels much nicer on the lips. The small brush applicator makes it easy to apply evenly and I have found this liquid lipstick to be fairly long lasting. I often wear a lot of black clothes so I’ve really been enjoying wearing this to add a bit of colour to my look. You can see a photo of me wearing this lipstick here.
Volumising Ultra Black Mascara | £2.00
How could I not try some bits from Primark Beauty and not purchase a mascara? I think it was the bright metallic pink packaging that drew me into this particular offering. The Volumising Ultra Black Mascara has lots of short, plastic bristles grouped closely together on a thick brush. I have found that this mascara coats every lash, seperating them nicely and does provide a level of volume. It doesn’t flake or smudge but it doesn’t provide hugely impressive results either. If you’re looking for a very purse-friendly mascara then this isn’t bad for everyday.
Overall, I’m really impressed with my purchases, particularly the Liquid Lipstick. I’m excited to use the nail polishes and the only product I wouldn’t recommend are the glass nails.
