On my nails this week I used some of my recent Essence purchases for the first time and the MUA Peel Off Polish Base Coat (review to follow in the next few days).
I felt like a girly colour so used Barry M Hi Shine Gel Effect Nail Polish in Rose Hip which is a pastel baby pink – not a very Autumnal choice but I like to go with whatever I’m feeling at the time. Rose Hip was easy to apply as this polish has a lovely smooth formula but it did take 3 coats for an opaque finish (but I think this is to be expected with a pastel shade).
I then applied 2 coats of the Essence Nail Art Special Effect Topper in Circus Confetti (what a perfect name for this polish!) to my third finger on both hands which has to be one of my favourite glitter polishes! This glitter polish has a clear base containing hexagons and glitter in lots of sizes and colours. It is just so pretty! I found this glitter topper easy to apply, the formula wasn’t too thick and the glitter spread evenly with a bit of dabbing. I can’t wait to try Circus Confetti with a dark grey or black shade as I think this combination will work perfectly. I am getting a bit obsessed with glitter polishes at the moment, normally I only wear them at Christmas time but I just can’t get enough of them lately.
I used the Essence Gel Look Top Coat to seal my mani. This was easy to apply and spread across my nails evenly however it was touch dry within minutes but then took what felt like forever to dry completely. It did leave my nails incredibly shiny but the dry time was disappointing, so I’m not sure I’ll use this again. For £1.70 I’m not too upset that this top coat was a poor purchase.
