A couple of weekends ago I trotted off to central London for a crafty afternoon organised by Viking at Lumiere London. It was a seriously relaxing and fun afternoon of calligraphy, mindful origami and block printing.
On arrival we were split into 3 groups that rotated between the 3 activities. The group I was in started at the calligraphy table which was definitely the session I was most looking forward to. The calligraphy workshop was led by Suzie, who was brilliant at guiding us through how to hold and use a calligraphy pen. Suzie was so friendly and did an excellent job of going round the table, helping everyone individually with their lettering. I really enjoyed this session and I can’t wait to get practising my calligraphy in my spare time. Who knows I might even be able to make my own wedding placecards!
Suzie and I talked quite a bit before the session started and she told me that she owns a high quality stationery shop named A L’aise selling calligraphy supplies, greeting cards and more. She has very kindly offered a 15% discount until the end of August which you can take advantage of by using code SUPER15.
We then went on to mindful origami run by Samuel Tsang. Samuel shared a lot of interesting background and history to origami. I really like the concept of using origami as a tool for meditation and thinking positively of friends and family. During this session we made an envelope and a flapping bird.
The final session was block printing held by Jane, by this point we were running a little behind so we got stuck in straight away, block printing our own designs onto a box file. I went for a purple triangle design but everyone got extremely creative in this session and all of the different designs looked amazing lined up in a row!
I had a great afternoon at the #VikingArtyParty, it was lovely to meet new people and also catch up with a few friends. It was an extremely well organised afternoon with drinks, croissants and lots of crafty goodness. Thank you very much for having me Viking!
