With Royal Baby #2 due later this month Birchbox have put together a Royally Good box for April to mark the occasion. To add to the theme there are both blue and pink – boy and girl – boxes and I received the girly pink version. Birchbox are also running a competition based on the gender of Royal Baby #2 and the colour of the boxes which is a fun touch.
There are no lifestyle extras this month but instead subscribers get 6 samples rather than the usual 5 so I don’t feel hard done by. For April subscribers were given a choice of 3 Laura Mercier samples a violet eyeliner, foundation primer and mascara. I love the Laura Mercier primer so thought I’d try something new and picked the mascara. Laura Mercier’s Full Blown Volume Supreme Mascara claims to give lashes a thicker, longer, curled appearance so I’m looking forward to giving this mascara a whirl.
Being a self professed nail polish addict I always love to see a polish in beauty boxes as they’re often by brands I haven’t tried before. In the April box I received the Lola Barcelona Nail Polish in Born – a pretty shimmery lilac nude. Lola Barcelona polishes are completely free of chemical nasties and toxic ingredients which is certainly an added bonus.
I was quite excited to see the Percy and Reed Smoothed, Sealed and Sensational Volumising No Oil Oil (such a long name!) in my box as it’s a real multi-tasker. It provides heat protection, nourishment and volume. I think I’ll be using this product quite a bit!
I also received Bliss’ Foaming Face Wash and Pommade Divine Nature’s Remedy Balm which both sound like really lovely products. The face wash is both a double-duty cleanser and exfoliator containing rose hip, chamomile and passion flower (it smells amazing!). The all-natural balm works to repair any skin complaints from chapped lips to soothing scratches or eczema.
Lastly I received a sachet of Befine Warming Clay Mask. Clay masks are my favourite and this one is meant to provide a detoxifying treatment resulting in a smoother even texture and a radiant complexion.
This is definitely one of Birchbox’s better boxes, there isn’t one product I won’t be using! What are your thoughts on the Royally Good April Birchbox?
