1. What is your favourite Christmas Movie(s)
I don’t think there’s one Christmas film I’ve seen that I haven’t enjoyed. If I had to narrow it down, my favourites would have to be Home Alone, Love Actually, Miracle on 34th Street, The Holiday, Elf and Jack Frost. I do love Christmas films! I also really enjoy discovering new Christmas films by flicking through the cable channels. For example, the Hallmark Channel always shows so many cute Christmas films at this time of year. As these cable tv statistics show, the Hallmark Channel is actually one of the most popular channels on cable TV. This does not surprise me at all considering the amazing range of Christmas movies that they show each year! Do you watch much cable TV over Christmas? Oh, and what are some of your favorite Christmas films? Get in touch and let me know in the comments!
2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
Always on Christmas morning. When I was younger, my parents sometimes allowed my sister and I to open one present on Christmas Eve, but that didn’t stop us from waking stupidly early on Christmas day as we were so excited.
3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?
I don’t have a specific Christmas memory but growing up my sister and I would always gather in my bedroom and we’d open our stockings together. It would be so much fun and then we’d run in and wake our parents up! Christmas was definitely more fun as a child.
4. Favourite festive food?
Nothing beats a beautiful Christmas dinner, my Mum’s is the best, I even go as far as eating the brussel sprouts even though I don’t like them.
5. Favourite Christmas gift?
Over the years I have had some wonderful, thoughtful gifts from the boyfriend and family members. I think my most recent favourite gift would have to be my Nikon Coolpix p510 that was gifted to me by my parents for Christmas in 2012. This past year in particularly I have really gotten into photography and have spent most weekends taking countless photographs trying to improve my skills. That gift was a real enabler and receiving a new camera really encouraged me to spread my wings.
6. Favourite Christmas scent?
Christmas baking! I’m sad that I haven’t done much baking this December but I will find time to at least make some biscuits or something! It would be such a shame not to.
7. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
The past few years we spend Christmas Eve with the mister’s family, having a few drinks, nibbles, watching Christmas films and playing board games. His family also have a slightly peculiar tradition of raising their Christmas flag up on Christmas Eve. I suppose if you have aluminum flagpoles, it makes sense to add a Christmasy spin to them at this time of year. It’s lovely and relaxed and we always have a laugh. When I was younger my sister and I would always sing the traditional Greek Christmas Eve carol or ‘kalanta’ to family whilst playing the triangle (a bit like this) and that was always a fun tradition.
8. What tops your tree?
A star, it’s really nothing special. I’d like to get something more meaningful for next year. A friend has suggested that I should check out a christmas decoration sale and hopefully get something new. When it comes to the tree, the trip to buy it is always a special one, and thanks to coupons from somewhere like https://www.raise.com/coupons/home-depot, we can save money on a tree from Home Depot too – every little saving counts around Christmas!
9. As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?
I’d always ask for a cat and I was never allowed one. I knew I would never be allowed one but that didn’t stop me asking. It was only in my teens that I was allowed small furry pets.
10. What’s the best part about Christmas for you?
I love everything about Christmas. Festive music, snuggly Christmas jumpers, choosing and wrapping gifts for loved ones, decorating the Christmas tree, twinkling fairy lights, glitter and sparkle. Happiness, excitement and anticipation, pulling crackers and scrummy Christmas Dinner, watching the faces of family as they open their presents. Chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate and precious family gatherings.
Less than a week to go!!!
