Last weekend Nick and I visited Canterbury as a pre-Birthday treat. As soon as we drove through the city gate (the first photograph), I just knew I’d love Canterbury. It was raining the majority of the way there but as soon as we got to Canterbury the sky brightened and we were very lucky to have warm sunshine the majority of our stay.
We stayed at The Falstaff Hotel which meant that everything was on our doorstep as it’s located right in the centre of the city. The only thing I would say is that because our room was directly above the bar and also facing the main road it was fairly noisy at night. The room could also do with some tlc but it was clean and did the job more than adequatly.
I really enjoyed exploring Canterbury, from the cathedral to a river tour in a rowing boat along the River Stour we got a real flavour of the city’s history. Canterbury is extremely picturesque with its historic buildings, castle gate, parks and rivers that it has to be one of my favourite cities in England. Absolutely stunning.
