A little while ago Nick had a course in Chelmsford so I thought I’d make the day of it – drop him off and then find some things to do close by while he learnt all things Health and Safety. I spent the morning at a wonderful little zoo, Tropical Wings. Unfortunately I didn’t choose the best day for my visit weather wise – it poured with rain intermittently all morning so quite a few of the animals were hiding but there was still plenty to see. If the weather had been better I probably would have stayed quite a bit longer but I still felt like I got my money’s worth!

My favourite part of the zoo was the Tropical House with free-flying butterflies and birds, they were just mesmerising! It felt like quite a unique experience, I don’t think I’ve ever been to a zoo with so many butterflies and birds flying around you in a tropical environement. There were also lots of other animals to see too such as marmosets, squirrel monkeys, meerkats, lemurs, farm animals, insects, owls and many different species of birds – they even had guinea pigs! If I happen to be in the area again I would definitely visit again. I love a trip to the zoo.

Have you had a zoo day lately?
