Last Sunday I hopped on the train into London and attended Hillary’s Crafternoon – a series of crafty blogger workshops in celebration of the launch of their new range, Jewel: The Edit. It was also my first ever Joe’s Bloggers event!
The workshop took place at Drink Shop & Do which had such a lovely vibe! It’s a cafe by day, a bar by night and they also host crafty sessions and other fun things such as pumpkin carving in the evenings.
As soon as I arrived I was offered a drink and a slice of cake – I couldn’t resist the red velvet, just look at it! It tasted just as good as it looks too. Once we’d had a bit of time to get settled, introduce ourselves and enjoy our cake, 2 ladies from The Crafty Hen demonstrated how to make our jewellery boxes. We used Hillary’s fabrics for our creations and I chose to add some ribbon and a button to give it a bit more of a design. It was actually really fun to make, my jewellery box could have a been a bit neater but for a first attempt it wasn’t bad!
After another little demonstration we made Suffolk puffs which I’d actually never heard of before but they look a bit like rosettes.. I don’t remember the last time I used a needle and thread but as this just involved basic stitches it wasn’t too much of a challenge and it actually turned out alright!
Overall Hillary’s Crafternoon was a really fun way to spend my Sunday, I hadn’t done anything crafty for a while so it was so nice to get stuck in and make things! Thank you so much to Joe’s Bloggers for the invite and Hillary’s for hosting the #HillarysCrafternoon.
