It feels like only minutes ago that I was writing about the July Birchbox box and yet here I am writing my first impressions of the August box! Time is flying and before we know it will be Christmas, crazy! Anyway, this month’s Birchbox has the theme #beautyjunkie to “celebrate the beauty junkie in all of us”. The box has a cute emoji theme with emoji stickers to match. I’m sure I’ll soon find something to use them on!
Every subscriber received 2 make up samples in this month’s box – this pleased me greatly as make up samples are definitely my favourite. I received a sample of the Lord & Berry Blush in Lotus and theBalm cosmetics Balm Desert Bronzer/ Blush. I think it’s a little odd that both make up samples are blushers but both shades are extremely wearable and would probably suit most skintones.
My box also contained Kebelo’s Clarifying Shampoo which is a deep cleansing and detoxifying shampoo that helps to eliminate product build up. I’m quite looking forward to trying this to establish whether it makes a noticeable difference to the condition of my hair.
I also received two exfoliators, one for the face and the other for the body. Huygens’ Exfoliating Cream is described as being gentle enough for daily use. The Rituals Fortune Scrub is a shower scrub – an exfoliator and body wash hybrid. Both products smell extremely fresh which I like but I feel like I’ve received a few too many exfoliators in previous months to really get excited by them.
The sample I’m most excited to try is the Formula 10.0.6 Overnight Success Spot Minimising Patches. These patches contain tea tree and grape seed and are meant to be applied directly to an individual spot and left to work overnight. My skin is behaving itself at the moment (fingers crossed it continues) but next time I have a blemish I’m definitely going to give these patches a go.
I like that this month’s box contains a variety of products – make up, hair, body, skincare.. and I also like the #beautyjunkie theme. However none of the items have really delighted me, so after being a Birchbox subscriber for 20 consecutive months, I’ve decided to cancel my subscription for now as I’ve been feeling a little disheartened for a while. Maybe it’s time to try a different subscription box..
What do you think of this month’s Birchbox? What’s your favourite monthly subscription box?
