Photo Diary: Waddesdon Manor
At the end of last month I spent a beautifully sunny day with my Grandparents at Waddesdon Manor House and Gardens. I’ve apparently visited Waddesdon before, aged 5-7 but I really can’t remember it. Waddesdon Manor is so ornate it almost looks like a castle and the gardens are so pristine I felt naughty walking on the grass!

For the duration of my time in the gardens, I was really hoping that no one was watching me. I don’t know why, but it just didn’t feel right walking on the grass. Although, there were no signs saying that I couldn’t. I can’t begin to tell you how inspired I felt in my surroundings. Everywhere you looked, there were beautiful plants and flowers. Some of them I had never seen before, which made it all the more exciting. I bet those that are interested in agriculture will be able to tell you what seeds you would need to create a beautiful garden. I wouldn’t know.

But I do want to learn more. Recently, I have been thinking about making changes to my own garden, however, I am worried about what types of pests it might attract. We’ve never had a problem with unwanted insects before, although the same can’t be said for my friends. Whatever they do in their garden, pests gravitate towards it. In fact, it’s become that much of a problem that they’ve had to enlist the help of a company like pest control experts terminix to help resolve the problem. Until I know that they removed any unwanted pests, then I will make a start on my garden, as it is in need of a good renovation. Maybe I could include some of the features that are included in the beautiful manor garden.

The Manor itself is absolutely huge and every room has countless chairs, clocks and lots of little details – every piece of furniture is a work of art in itself. My favourite spots were the Aviary and Rose Garden. I could have happily spent hours trying to spot the various birds. It was a truly wonderful day and I had a lot of fun exploring the house and gardens with my Grandparents.
