As you can probably tell I have welcomed Spring with open arms. I love every season for different reasons but I have been ready to see the back of Winter for a while now. Wearing lighter and brighter shades on my nails is one of the ways I like to embrace Spring. This week I’ve decided to go with Barry M Sugar Apple layered with SEVENTEEN Monochrome.
Sugar Apple is a light minty blue shade that provided full coverage in 2 coats. I did find the formula a touch on the gloopy side but it wasn’t too difficult to work with. I then applied 1 coat of SEVENTEEN Monochrome. Monochrome has a clear base with black strands and white and black speckles in various shapes and sizes including micro glitter. Monochrome had to be applied by dabbing the various glitter particles onto the nail in order to spread the glitter more evenly but overall it was easy to apply. I did find that even with a top coat the black strands didn’t want to stay in place and would start to peel away at the edges which was fairly irritating. But I still really like how this combo turned out.
I think Monochrome would look so lovely over a grey or a really bright polish – it’s a very versatile topper being black and white. Maybe I’ll try 2 coats of top coat next time to prevent the pealing.
Have you been wearing any glitter toppers recently? Which ones?
