On the 18th of September Smashbox gave away 50 full-size primers to the first 50 people to reach their counters that day. I don’t always read the Metro, but on the 18th I picked one up and spotted the advert. I pass the Boots on Oxford Street on the way into the office just after 8am everyday so thought I was in with a chance of being one of the first 50 people and I was right.
The Smashbox advisor recommended I take the Photo Finish Foundation Light Primer as it is ideal for oily, acne-prone or sensitive skin – I have combination skin so this is ideal. The formula contains “oil absorbers for a smooth matte finish all day, light diffusers to minimize the appearance of imperfections, and vitamin C and peptides to help even skin tone and promote collagen production for a flawless future.” I felt pretty lucky walking away with a £25.00 primer (and a foundation tester) without parting with any money. I mentioned in this post that I’d share a review with you soon, so here it is.
I have been using this primer for 2-3 weeks now and I am really impressed. I use a pea sized amount of this white primer as a base for my foundation every day as I want my make up to last as long possible, ideally the full day. This product sinks really quickly into my skin so I don’t have to wait long before applying my foundation which is a bonus.
I have found that this primer is a great base for my foundation, application is smooth and it extends the wear time. With this primer my skin stays shine free until well into the evening without having to touch up my make up throughout the day which is just phenomenal.
Rimmel London Stay Matte Primer has been my go-to primer for a long time now and does a pretty good job at oil control and increasing longevity of my foundation however the Smashbox primer keeps shine at bay for the entire day and doesn’t dry out my less oily areas which I find very impressive.
This is the first Smashbox product I’ve tried and I’m so impressed by it I’d like to try some more of their products. Do you have any Smashbox recommendations?
