Base Coat and Top Coat | Sally Hansen Double Duty Strengthening Base & Top Coat
Colour | Essence Colour & Go Polish in English Rose
You may remember that a couple of weeks ago I purchased my first ever Essence polishes and I have been trying most of them out. Essence Bejeweled and Essence Gel Look Top Coat were disappointing; Essence Bejeweled was rather gloopy to apply and the top coat took a very long time to dry. However, I absolutely loved the Essence Nail Art Special Effect Topper in Circus Confetti and I reckon I’ll use this polish a lot in the coming months. I’m quickly coming to the conclusion that Essence nail polishes can be a bit hit and miss.
This week I gave Essence Colour & Go Polish in English Rose a try. The Essence Go Polish nail polish bottles are fairly similar to the Bourjois nail polishes, the Essence bottles are just a bit more rounded. I quite like the Essence Go Polish bottles and the fairly wide brush makes it easy peasy to apply evenly without a streaky application on the first coat.
I’d describe Essence English Rose as a dirty pink, in some lights it has brown undertones and in others it’s more of a dusty pink. It’s a really beautiful, feminine shade and I have really enjoyed wearing it. This polish was opaque in 2 coats and spread easily and evenly across my nails so was a dream to apply. For £1.60 I’m really impressed.
I’m still enjoying the Sally Hansen Double Duty Strengthening Base & Top Coat so used this multi-tasker again this week. My polished nails have been lasting so well when I use this as a top coat, it seems to really prevent chipping.
So far I’ve liked half of the Essence polishes I’ve tried, I still have Essence Effect Nail Polish in Glitz and Glam to try. I wonder whether this will be another winner or whether it will disappoint.. Are you a fan of Essence nail polishes?
