As October is breast cancer awareness month Birchbox have partnered with CoppaFeel – a charity dedicated to promoting early detection of breast cancer by encouraging woman under 30 to regularly check their breasts. The insert within the October box provides information on how to properly check your breasts and the signs and symptoms of breast cancer.
The products in the October box have been chosen to coincide with the “Work It” theme, to help you stay motivated in the cooler months as the year slowly draws to a close. My “Work It” box contains a great selection of products from make up and skincare to bodycare and haircare. This month Birchbox have swapped their signature drawstring bag for a mini pink make up bag and have included an adorable lipstick shaped pen which is the perfect size for your handbag.
I haven’t tried any products from the brands included within my box previously and I’m genuinely looking forward to trying the majority of the samples. I love a face mask, it’s such a lovely little treat after a long day at work and clay masks are my favourite. This mask is packed with shea butter and peppermint which promises to restore, refresh and nourish your skin so I’m excited to try it for myself.
The KMS California Hair Play Playable Texture hairspray is probably the only sample in my box that I’m not so sure I’ll use as I’m pretty set on how I like to style my hair, according to the description it’s meant to build body and texture without stickiness or buildup so it might be perfect for styling hair the day after washing if it’s looking a little flat.
The nail polish addict inside of me always likes to see a polish sample, this Lollipops offering is a vibrant red shade called Voyage a Paris. I don’t think I own such a bright red so I’m pretty excited to try it.
Next up is the Pixi Lip Balm in Honey Nectar (love the name!). The lip balm itself looks rather dark in the tube but I’ve used it a few times now and it looks like more of a browny nude once applied, which is very wearable and I think suits my skintone. This lip balm contains shea butter and Vitamin E to soothe parched lips and prevent dryness and I have found it very nourishing when I’ve been wearing it.
And finally my box contained a sample of the Shaveworks The Cool Fix which sounds like such a wonder product. I don’t often get irritation but when I do I now know what I’ll be using. The Cool Fix is meant to immediately soothe irritated skin and remove dead skin that cause ingrown hairs that can lead to infections. I really hope it works as described!
Overall I’m really happy with the products included in the October Birchbox, I think I’ll use pretty much all of them and it’s given me the chance to discover some new brands. I’m particularly excited to try the nail polish and face mask and I’m already enjoying the Pixi Lip Balm!
