Fruit Salad

Whilst on my weekly food shop, I decided that I wanted to buy the ingredients to make a fruit salad (pretty much a spur of the moment craving!). I love fruit but I don’t eat them nearly as often as I should, and when I fill up my fruit bowl I often forget to eat them before they go bad. But I find that if I go to the effort of making a fruit salad I will eat it for breakfast or as a snack.

I didn’t have any specific fruit in mind so I just picked what I fancied and I am really pleased with how it turned out. Sorry for the picture heavy post but I couldn’t resist sharing the photos of my fruit salad (from every angle) – it just looks so inviting! The flavours and textures compliment each other really nicely – the crunch of the apples and grapes, the soft bananas and smooth nectarines work well together. Whenever I have made fruit salads in the past that I have enjoyed I haven’t made a note of them, so I thought that by posting the ingredients here I can refer to the fruit used previously and make it again or mix up the ingredients a bit. Maybe it will also inspire you to make your own fruit salad too :)

I used:

  • 2 apples
  • 3 bananas
  • 125g of blueberries
  • 200g of grapes
  • 2 pears
  • 2 nectarines
  • 1 litre of apple and mango juice (I like a juicy fruit salad!)

The ingredients listed filled 3 of my jars from Aldi perfectly. I store them in the fridge so the fruit keeps longer.

How do you like to eat your fruit? What combinations of fruit do you like to use when you make a fruit salad?

This looks so wonderfully yummy! There is nothing like fruit salad as a snack, and if it’s homemade all the better.

Thank you so much Danielle. When I started food/cooking lessons at school one of the first things we made was fruit salad (to learn how to cut fruit etc.) and the recipe then included apple juice so I’ve always included juices to my fruit salads ever since! xx

Aw, these look so cute served in jars, makes it look way more appealing than when it’s served in a bowl.
