The end of August is here and with it comes another monthly favourites post. I’m kind of sad to see the summer season come to an end, I’m going to miss the sunshine, warmer weather and lighter evenings.
I’ve had daily contact lenses for a couple of months now and honestly it has been life changing! My eyesight isn’t terrible and I can get away without glasses or contact lenses but I get headaches if I’m not careful. I’ve found adjusting to contact lenses an absolute breeze and I love that they don’t mess up my makeup, also strangely my eyes water a lot less which is also a bonus.
NYX HD Finishing Powder in Translucent
The NYX HD Finishing Powder is my new favourite setting powder. It is a little pricier at £8 but I can tell it’s going to last me a fair while. Being white I was a bit sceptical as to whether it would leave my face with a talcum powder mask but I’ve not had any issues. I use a big fluffy brush to apply this lightweight translucent powder and it leaves me with a lovely matte finish. I can’t imagine going back to any other setting powder as it lasts so well throughout the day.
Real Techniques Miracle Mini Eraser Sponge
Real Techniques launched some new make up sponges at the start of August and as I’m such a big fan of the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge I couldn’t wait to try the new releases. My favourite so far is the Real Techniques Miracle Mini Eraser Sponge. The pack comes with 2 for the price of £5.99 which I think is quite reasonable. These Mini Eraser Sponges expand to twice their size in water just like the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. I love to use this sponge for applying my under eye make up and concealer as being smaller in size I can apply it more precisely. Let me know if you’d like to see a full review.
Seche Vive Instant Gel Effect Top Coat
I think this is another fairly new release although I haven’t read or seen anything about these, I just came across the Seche Vive Instant Gel Effect Top Coat when browsing the Boots website. The Seche Vive Instant Gel Effect Top Coat is just as fast drying as the original but it also delivers a plumping effect with a high shine finish. I’ve had quite a few compliments on my nails when wearing this which is testament in itself that it does actually provide a gel effect top coat. The only thing I would say is that my manicure still chips after 3-4 days when wearing this but this isn’t too much of an issue for me as I change my nail polish all of the time.
Soap and Glory The Fab Pore 3 in 1 Oil Control Serum
I love mixing the Soap and Glory The Fab Pore 3 in 1 Oil Control Serum and my trusty One Heck Of A Blot Instant-Perfecting Power Primer and applying both to my face at once. The Fab Pore 3 in 1 Oil Control Serum has quite a gritty texture which I’m not a massive fan of but my make up lasts even longer whilst keeping any shine at bay on my forehead and nose which completely makes up for it. It feels amazing to come home from a day at work and my make up to be almost completely intact!
